Designing Health and Fitness Apps

Designing Health and Fitness Apps

According to Flurry Insights, health and fitness apps are growing 87% faster than any other app vertical on the market!  Consumer usage of these apps are up by more than 60% in the past 6 months alone! The health and fitness vertical is highly lucrative and the technology will probably be more disruptive in the next 5 years than in the past 50 years combined.

The stats tell us that consumers are eager to integrate this kind of technology in their daily routines in order to optimize results. Devices like the Jawbone Up, FitBit, and Acer's Liquid Leap are helping us track our progress...but they're just the beginning of what's ahead (think artificial intelligence).

Join us and our panelists as we explore the following:

• How are these apps designed?

• What motivates consumers?

• Breakdown of current technology and future trends.

Our Startup Panelists:

Victor Oliveros and Cat Perez, Co-Founders of HealthCareLove and winners of the 2014 Dreamforce Hackathon.

Bjorn Wanbo, Co-Founder of FYTNS.

Moderated by Leila Banijamali, Startup Lawyer at Bedrock and Founder of Startup Documents

This is a 21 and over event. Drinks and light snacks will be served.

Building Valuable Brands

Launching great ideas is one thing. Building valuable, memorable, and lasting brands is another thing entirely.

How should you create a name or logo ("trademarks") for your company or product? What does your brand stand for and what is its promise? What can you do to protect your trademarks? What does "brand strategy" look like? How can you turn your customers into loyal brand advocates?

We've partnered with one of the top branding and PR agencies in the world, Ketchum, to answer those complex questions in a simple way and will bring you trademark and branding insights that will change the way you think about your companies and products. Ketchum has developed award winning branding and PR campaigns for local and international organizations alike and they will be hosting this event in their beautiful San Francisco office. Light snacks and beverages will be served.

Space is limited so RSVP now!*

Speakers

• Tia Woodward, Vice President and Account Director at Ketchum, will showcase Ketchum IDea, a brand identity toolkit, and her application of the approach to one of their recent projects.

• Leila Banijamali, founder of Bedrock, trademark lawyer, entrepreneur, and organizer of this Meetup group, will provide an overview of trademark law for startups. Leila will share some simple steps that every entrepreneur should take to select strong trademarks, protect their trademarks, and build overall brand value in their ventures.

Other Highlights

• Groundbreaking branding video clips.

On Collaboration and Design

Productive and inspiring collaboration is both a skill and an art.

Join us for our hotly anticipated (and FREE!) event on collaboration and design at one of San Francisco's top design studios, DesignMap, located in the heart of the Mission District. We've organized a seriously creative and compelling speaker line-up to talk about the collaboration process in the context of designing and building things. If you want to learn some best practices for collaboration and design as you build your team and your startup, then this event is for you! Beverages and light snacks will be served. Limited spots available so RSVP now!

About the Speakers:

• Nathan Kendrick, Chuck Moore, and Audrey Crane, Partners, and Jason Frasier, Design Director, at DesignMap. Stories of Collaboration from the Field. Five leaders from DesignMap share stories from four projects about various types (and levels of success) of collaboration with clients, from deep daily collaboration to sporadic, low-touch collaboration. These stories from the field will provide entertaining and illuminating parables for designers, product managers, and collaborators of all stripes. DesignMap partners with clients to deliver user-centered web and mobile experiences and their clients include Bloomberg, Blue Shield of California, eBay, EMC, ExactTarget, NetApp, Wells Fargo, among others.

• Sarah Nelson, Founder at Radically Human. Working with others is one of the most challenging parts of creativity. We need co-conspirators to bring new products, services, and companies into the world - but getting everyone to play nice is one of a leader's greatest challenges. In this talk, Sarah will discuss the common mistakes she has seen leaders make and show you how to overcome them. At Adaptive Path, Hot Studio, and POP!, Sarah led diverse teams to develop product strategies and digital experiences for clients such as Nike, The Metropolitan Opera, Skype, Vanguard Funds, PayCycle, Zappos, Intel, and The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. She trains leaders to develop an effective leadership practice, align and engage their teams, and regenerate their own creativity.

• Leila Banijamali, Startup Lawyer at Bedrock. Leila will highlight some legal issues to consider when designing new products and collaborating both internally (inside your organization) and externally (outside your organization). Leila has founded several startups in the tech, law, and food spaces and acts as outside general counsel to startups and design firms. She is the organizer of this Meetup and helps people to launch and grow their companies.
